A warm welcome

Jugendstill Art Nouveau was a style of architecture and design which reached its pinnacle at the very beginning of the 20th century, and it is often described as the first truly "modern" style. That is true despite the fact that Art Nouveau was clearly influenced by older styles, too.

Art Nouveau took its name from a gallery that was opened in Paris in 1895 - the Maisson de l'Art Nouveau. Today it is known by a number of words - Jugendstil in Germany, Austria and Latvia (jūgendstils), Stile Liberty in Italy, Modernismo in Spain, Tiffany Stylen in the United States and Modern in Russia. The basic elements in Art Nouveau are ornaments from nature and flowing lines. Common motifs include female figures with flowing hair and clothing (the door signs of Laine Hotel rooms are an example), as well as stylised flowers and birds. Art Nouveau was typified by asymmetrical composition, irregular, wavy and rhythmic lines and forms, and a light range of colours.

Jugenstill 2 Interiors were based on elements of nature, and
glass was used extensively. Façades were covered with colourful tile, glazed brick and images of griffins and sphinxes. Approximately 40% of the buildings in the historical city centre of Riga were built in the Art Nouveau style. Alberta and Elizabetes streets offer some particularly breathtaking examples.

Jugendstill 3 The Laine Hotel is located in an Art Nouveau building that was put up in 1912. The façade and the interior feature quite some Art Nouveau elements.
Understanding the importance of this building in terms of cultural history, the hotel's owner has taken good care in preserving the structure in full line with its wonderful style.

History History 2 Your selection:
3 standard class rooms,
24 business class rooms,
5 apartment class rooms,
1 deluxe class room.

The Hotel Laine restaurant offers a wide range of continental cuisine and fine wines, including vegetarian meals. Traditional Latvian cuisine is also on offer.

We are proud of the elegant interior of our hotel, which is based on natural materials and the paintings of Latvian artist Rolands Krisjanis. It is also possible to purchase their masterpieces. The light colours in the interior will allow you to feel relaxed after the tensions of your working day.

The rooms of the hotel are on the upper floors, thus allowing guests to look at the old city of Riga from a bird's eye view. As you sip some tea on your deluxe terrace, you will be able to watch the church towers of Old Riga and the port on the Daugava River.

We welcome you not only to relax, but also to organise lectures and seminars. We can organise coffee breaks, luncheons and banquets. This is a very appropriate environment for successful work! The hotel's owner and the hotel's professional and responsive staff will always be on hand to satisfy your needs and to care for your well-being.
